Father’s Day Celebration at Normanna Hall June 8, 2008
We had a lovely day and a
nice crowd to join in the celebration for Father’s Day. The
host band today was Butch Gibson with “Pardners”. They kept the
dance floor busy with their good mix of tunes. With Butch
Gibson on bass and vocals there was John Masai on drums, Darrell
Anderson on fiddle and vocals, Larry Broad on guitar and vocals
and Sara Jane on guitar and vocals. Butch and the Pardners play
mainly in the south end of King County and they jam every third
Sunday at the Buckley Eagles at 2PM. It’s a treat that they
come to play for us when they are able.
When Pardners were finished with their set, it was time for
the jammers to take the stage. We always have great musicians
that come here to play in the jams. There was LeRoy King on
bass and vocals, Jim Neel on guitar, Gene Silberberg on fiddle,
Darrell Haddock on guitar and vocals and Teddy Gee on drums.
They kept the music coming and everyone had fun dancing. Judy
LeBlanc came up to sing a couple of songs too.
While the jammers took a break, it was time for the door
prize drawings. Several people walked away with some nice
prizes. Then it was time for the Split the Pot drawing. The
lucky winner was Lloyd Sennett. Congratulations Lloyd!!
When the jam started again we were in for a nice surprise.
We had the members of 3 Generations come on the stage to
entertain us. There was Tammy Dumas on vocals, Nick Dumas on
fiddle and vocals, Val Ranz on vocals and Russ Ranz on
harmonica. Also joining them was Danika Nolton. Danika is now
8 years old and she plays the mandolin and fiddle and sings.
She was one of our scholarship recipients and she went to Fiddle
Camp and she is doing great. She has also been receiving
lessons from Nick Dumas. Danika was a big hit when she played
and sang "Faded Love". Also on stage with them were Ray Shawley
on drums, Dave Wheeler on bass and Larry Broad on guitar. Ted
Kiger also sang a couple of songs for us.
Butch Gibson with “Pardners” came back on stage to
close out the showcase. It was a great time and everyone
enjoyed the day.
