BOBBY GIASSON

I was born in the state of Maine, in a small town. Not to many Musicians come from this part of the country.

My music started at age 14 I was in a group called "The Rocky Road Ramblers", Theme was Rocky Road Blue's.

At 15 met Hawkshaw Hawkins. at the time he had fiddle player  Eddie Miller.  We did some jams and we did a show in town and  ran across him often over the years.   He would borrow my rifle  to go deer hunting.

In that time period I would run across Dick Curless who was  nineteen.  My reputation was well established as a guitarist,. sometime passed I was seventeen, was asked to do a radio show on  a new radio station in town and I did that,  included in the

group was my wife to be seven years later and her brother Bill, who has now been inducted in the WSS of  Sac. CA.

I did a stint in the U. S. Navy and played a lot. In '57 while  still in the Navy coming home a lot Jeanette Maryrose said yes she would marry me and we did.  In 58 got discharged form the service and would have gone on to the Ted Mack Amateur Hour

but I was discharged before the show was aired. Came home and  went on the road with Skeeter Bonn and at the same time did a  daily TV show which could be seen throughout the northeast.

While on the this show appeared with Wilma Lee  & Stony Cooper and also on  another show with the great Don Gibson., a few years passed and then I Played rock & roll for a couple years with  Alabama's Curtis Johnson.  In the mid sixties back to Country &

Pop with Dick Curless.  We recorded such hits as "Tombstone Every Mile" and others.

Played with Jazz, Pop, and swing groups.  recorded album "Sixteen Strings"  with Sonny Cardili & Dick Cash and another with Cardili called "Try It You'll Like It".

In '73 I came west and played with Gene & Gretchen Todd and later after playing every club in Sacramento County  in the mid 70's   we joined Leroy Toten back at the 40 Grand and then later on at the El Rancho.  Later on at the Los Robles  with the Todd's.  By then met Jay Riley who introduced me to Wes Allen and western swing..

While still with the Todd's was asked and did back up Rex Allen Jr. at the Eureka State Fair.Ca. .
